Matthew Newton is an independent photographer based in Hobart Tasmania he works across both moving and still images. Primarily supplying images for editorial, commercial and documentary clients.
Among other projects over the last twelve months Matt has filmed a four part documentary series featuring the working lives of the Tasmanian marine and search and rescue police. For this job he filmed from boats in the midst of ocean storms and helicopters involved in precarious rescues. The series titled Real Life Water Rats screened nationally on ABC television.
He has also completed a three month, ten country transect of the middle east producing short films and still images for a broadband documentary dust on my shoes looking at the work of pioneering Australian adventurer and travel writer Peter Pinney.
Matt's photography has been published by a wide range of editorial and corporate clients including The Australian and Australian, Australian Geographic, National Geographic Adventure and the New York Times.
